Valentine's Day Decor

This is just a quick, simple little post…

During the Christmas season, I had an apothecary jar filled with ornaments on our kitchen table. You may have noticed it in the background of my movie date night post.

I really liked having something on the table and I wanted something new to put in the jar now that Christmas is over. So of course, I checked Pinterest for some creative ideas. I came across this cute pin from Ducks in a Row.

Ducks in a Row
I know it’s a little early for Valentines Day decorations but I just couldn’t resist. Plus I needed to put those ornaments away.

So I emptied the jar and washed it out.

I purchased this particular apothecary jar from HomeGoods two or three months ago. It was about $10.

Then I filled it with Valentine’s Day themed M&Ms. Conversation hearts may have looked cuter but I don’t like the taste of them that much. So I figured why not fill it with something I’d enjoy?

This is two bags worth of M&Ms.

I decided to fill the rest with these Valentine’s Day themed Hershey candy. Have you seen these?

They’re adorable heart versions of the best candy. Usually in a mixed bag, there's one type of candy I dislike but, lucky for me (not so much my waist line) I like all these flavors.

I added some ribbon I had left over from the movie date night gift and the cake in a jar gifts to finish it off.

And there you have it; a cute, simple switch up using materials I already had. I have a feeling that I'll be refilling this jar several times before Valentine's Day even gets here.

Looking at this wide picture, the jar seems so tiny in comparison to the table. I swear it doesn't look so small in real life. Eventually, I’d like to buy two more of these jars in varying sizes. That way it will look a little more like the original pin.

Also, on a side note, notice those place mats? Right before Christmas my mom ordered them. She thought she ordered 6 for her kitchen table but it turns out she actually ordered 6 sets of 4. Needless to say, everyone in my family got a few of these place mats in their stocking.

*My work, peacock inspired party is this weekend. So check back early next week to see how my decor came out.
