French Breakfast Muffins

This might be my first non-dessert recipe review. A friend of mine had a baby a few weeks ago and now that I am not working in the office, I had the opportunity to go visit her and meet her beautiful daughter. I figured she might want a sweet treat and something that she can freeze and enjoy for awhile. So I went looking through my cooking boards and came up with French Breakfast Muffins pin from Velvet Lava Cafe:

Don't they look delicious? The recipe seemed simple and I had everything already in my baking cabinet. I got to work sifting and mixing...

and popped them in the oven. Here they are without the topping:

I melted some butter, mixed up the cinnamon and sugar and gave them a dunk:

Here's the finished product:

Verdict: They were pretty tasty. A little plain without the topping, but you could really taste the nutmeg. They were a tad heavier than I would have liked, but I think I have a tendency to over mix. I would definitely make them again because they were super simple, and like I said, I usually have all the ingredients available in my pantry.

Things to consider: The recipe only makes 12 small muffins. It wasn't really a problem, but I used paper wrappers, and because the muffins were on the smaller side, they also got the topping stuck to them when I dunked. Not really a big deal, but something to remember.
